Bratabandha Card in Nepali: Wording Samples and Format
Ready-to-copy bratabandha card wording in Nepali and English, the order every line goes in, and how to make the card online with the Bikram Sambat date and saait.

A bratabandha card has a set order that elders expect to see: a blessing at the top, the hosts, the boy’s name, the date in the Bikram Sambat calendar with the tithi and saait, and the venue for the ceremony and the bhoj. Get that order right and the rest is simply filling in names.
Below are samples you can copy, first in Nepali, then in English, followed by the format explained line by line. When you are ready, you can put any of them on a bratabandha invitation card and send it as one link.
Bratabandha card format, line by line
- Blessing: ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥ or ॥ शुभ व्रतबन्ध ॥ at the top.
- Invitation line: a short, respectful request for the guest’s presence.
- The boy: his name with चि. (chiranjivi), and often whose son or grandson he is.
- Date: the Bikram Sambat date with the weekday, then the tithi.
- Saait: the time fixed by the family priest for the main rites.
- Programme: the ceremony time and the bhoj (feast) time, if they differ.
- Venue: the house, temple or party palace, with the area.
- Hosts: the parents, sometimes with grandparents, as निमन्त्रणाकर्ता.

English wording is useful for relatives abroad and for friends from other communities. Many families print the Nepali on the front and English underneath.
Sample 4: Newar Kayta Puja wording
Newar families call the ceremony Kayta Puja. The format is the same, with the ceremony named clearly:
॥ शुभ कयता पूजा ॥
हाम्रो सुपुत्र चि. सुजन श्रेष्ठको कयता पूजाको शुभ अवसरमा हजुरलाई सपरिवार सादर निमन्त्रणा गर्दछौं।
Small details that elders notice
Use चि. before the boy’s name
चि. is short for चिरञ्जीवी, a blessing for long life. It is standard on a bratabandha card and leaving it out can look careless.
Write the tithi, not only the date
Many relatives plan around the tithi. Put it directly under the Bikram Sambat date so it is read together.
Separate the saait from the feast time
Guests who come for the rites arrive early. Guests who come for the bhoj arrive later. Giving both times avoids a crowd at the wrong moment.
Name the hosts the way the family prefers
Some families list only the parents. Others add the grandparents first. Ask before printing, because it is the line people check most closely.
निमन्त्रणा पत्र नमुना: व्रतबन्ध (plain letter style)
If you need a plain invitation letter rather than a designed card, for example to send to an office or a school, use this simple structure:
श्रीमान्/श्रीमती ...........................ज्यू,
मिति २०८३ माघ २५ गते सोमबारका दिन हाम्रो सुपुत्र चि. आरव शर्माको व्रतबन्ध संस्कार हुने भएकाले उक्त अवसरमा उपस्थित भई आशीर्वाद दिनुहुन हार्दिक अनुरोध गर्दछौं।
भवदीय,
रमेश शर्मा
Make the bratabandha card online
You do not need a designer or a print shop for the first version. Open one of the bratabandha card templates, type the boy’s name and the date, and the Nepali date and tithi fill in on their own. Paste in any wording from this page, add a photo if you like, and share one link on WhatsApp or Viber. Guests reply from the card, so you know how many to expect for the bhoj.
If elders want a printed copy, the same card downloads as a PDF for a local press, so both versions match.
