Griha Pravesh Invitation Message in Nepali, Hindi and English

A new home is one of the happiest reasons to invite people over. A griha pravesh (गृह प्रवेश) invitation usually covers two things: the puja, often with a fixed saait, and the meal afterwards. Here is wording you can copy in Nepali, Hindi and English.

When your wording is ready, put it on a griha pravesh invitation card and send one link to everyone.

What to include

• A blessing such as ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥ or ॥ शुभ गृह प्रवेश ॥
• The family name
• Date in Bikram Sambat (and English for friends), with weekday
• The puja saait and the bhoj time
• The full new address, with a landmark: guests have never been there before

WhatsApp messages to send with the card

• Nepali: “नमस्ते! हाम्रो नयाँ घरको गृह प्रवेशमा हजुरलाई निम्तो छ। कार्ड र नक्सा यहाँ छ: [link]”
• Hindi: “नमस्ते! हमारे नए घर के गृह प्रवेश पर आप सादर आमंत्रित हैं। कार्ड और लोकेशन: [link]”

Tips

Put the map link on the card

New neighbourhoods are hard to find, and many new houses are not on maps yet. A pinned location saves a dozen phone calls on the day.

Say whether the puja is open to all

If the morning puja is only for close family, give the bhoj time as the main time for everyone else.

Mention parking

A line such as “Parking available at the school ground opposite” is small but helpful.

Griha pravesh wording for a flat or apartment

New flat, same us! Please join us for a small puja and dinner at our new apartment: Flat 5B, Sunrise Apartments, Dhapasi.

For apartments, always add the block, floor and flat number, and tell guests where to park.

Griha pravesh wording in other languages

• Maithili: many Madhesi families write the same format in Maithili or Hindi, with Shri Ganesh at the top.
• Nepal Bhasa: Newar families may use a Nepal Bhasa heading for the new house puja.

Whatever the language, keep the date, puja time, meal time and address clear and easy to find.
